Hull's Paragon Arcade to transform into a wedding haven

A Victorian shopping arcade in Hull is set to be transformed into a full-blown wedding fayre next weekend, thanks to the efforts of a local business owner.

The event will take place from 3pm on Sunday, June 23, with live music from a solo singer and an a capella quartet, a DJ session, food and drink from Grubb deli, and a bar.

Tipi Summer opens family-friendly outdoor bar

A new outdoor bar has opened in Hull and it's offering a relaxing atmosphere and live acoustic music.

Visitors to Hull city centre may have already noticed Tipi Summer has appeared next to the water at Princes Quay. It had a busy first day and bosses plan to open Tuesday to Sunday in the first month, and then seven days a week.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie runs at Hull New Theatre until Saturday, June 22, with matinees on Thursday and Saturday. Thursday’s evening show will also be BSL interpreted.

Heavenly Desserts unveils summer menu including drinks and treats

Heavenly Desserts has revealed its special summer menu - and our mouths are already watering.

The premium dessert franchise, which has a branch in Hull, will be offering the new delights until the end of September. With long sunny days upon us (hopefully, at some point), sweet-toothed customers will be able to indulge in three new delicious drinks and two new tasty treats - all of which celebrate the hit flavours of the season.

Big Malarkey returns bringing huge buzz to Hull’s biggest park

Delighting children and families for its seventh year, the Big Malarkey Children’s Literary Festival makes its return to Hull’s East Park this coming weekend.

Ahead of the public opening of “Malarkey Park” in Hull’s biggest park, on Saturday and Sunday, June 22 and 23, a schools programme of events is running this week to celebrate the return of the festival, which this year has the theme, A World of Adventures.

Doggy disco coming to Hull!

A popular Hull nightclub, Propaganda, is set to open its doors to dog owners and their furry friends for a unique event.

The venue will host its first-ever doggy disco on Sunday, 14th July, welcoming all friendly socialised dogs, including Cockapoos and Dachshunds.

SAFAR, June 18 - June 30

This coming June 18th-30th- the UK’s longest-running Arab film festival SAFAR returns to UK screens including Hull with its ninth edition titled On Dreams Hopes and Realities.

As part of the festival, On Hopes Dreams & Realities will screen selected films at Hull Independent Cinema, as well as over 60 screenings at 12 venues nationwide, including London, Liverpool, Manchester, Oxford and Plymouth.

Summer Shindig, June 13

A summer shindig will take place this month with the aim of bestowing joy, forming connections and sprinkling a touch of magic over Hull's elderly residents.

The first Shindig event is set to kick off during Loneliness Awareness Week, running from 10 - 16 June 2024. The Summer Shindig event is scheduled for Thursday 13 June 2024, 12 noon 3pm, at Edinburgh Street Community Centre.

Scarecrow hunt, June 8 - June 16

West Hull Villages Scarecrow Hunt is back for 2024.

Residents around Anlaby, Anlaby Common, Willerby, Kirkella and the surrounding streets of West Hull are all taking part, with over 150 scarecrows to find.

A free map and tick sheets will be available to download from a link which will be uploaded a few days before the event and there will be hard copies available from some venues. Extra events will be on during the weekends of the hunts.

Commemorative D-Day event at Hessle Foreshore - June 6

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Normandy D-Day landings, Hessle Town Council is hosting an evening of live entertainment and reflection at Hessle Foreshore on Thursday 6 th June 2024.

Starting at 8pm, the event will welcome residents and visitors of Hessle to come together and remember those who sacrificed their lives in the largest naval, air, and land operation in history.

Steve Craggs, Town Mayor and Chair of Hessle Town Council, said: “Hessle Town Council is pleased to be marking the 80 th D-day anniversary by lighting the beacon on Hessle Foreshore, and celebrating the ‘light of peace’ that emerged out of the darkness of war.”

“Visitors to the foreshore can expect a display of local history relevant to World War Two, live music from a community choir, and a reading of The International Tribute whilst the beacon is lit at 9.15pm.”

Art exhibitions at Hull Trinity Market and Hull College, June 6 and June 17

A local Hull artist will be showcasing their art at Trinity Market and Hull College.

"War" is an exhibition highlighting the sometimes-overlooked effects of human conflict on trees and nature. The exhibitions are a mix of sculpture, painting, poetry and film.

The exhibition dates are :

  • Thursday 06/06/2024 5.30pm-8.30pm at the Hull College of Fine Arts, Wilberforce Drive, Hull.
  • Monday 17//06/2024 Trinity Market, Lowgate entrance, Hull.

Elf The Musical - December 27

A live musical spectacular based on the smash-hit Christmas movie Elf is heading for Hull for just two fun-packed festive shows.

Elf The Musical will bring Buddy and his seasonal entourage from the cult Christmas blockbuster to the stage at Connexin Live. The Hollywood hit has been supersized into a live musical extravaganza for this Christmas and will visit Connexin Live for two shows on Friday, December 27.

The show will feature a massive stage featuring amazing film backdrops on a huge LED screen, plus a mobile stage that travels the auditorium, so everyone gets a close-up view of the action. The presentation features Santa’s flying sleigh, an audience snowball fight, an indoor snowstorm, a giant candy cane journey from the North Pole, aerial cirque stars and giant TV screens, so you don’t miss any of the spectacle.

Humber Street Sesh - August 3

The multi-award-winning festival Humber Street Sesh has announced its line-up for this year's Main Stage.

Hull band bdrmm had already been announced as the 2024's headline act, but now the full Main Stage bill has been revealed ahead of the event on Saturday, August 3.

From acoustics to post-punk electronica and hip-hop, there will be something from a wide variety of genres. See the full line-up and find out more here.

Oktoberfest Beverley - October 18 and 19

New dates have just been added to Oktoberfest Beverley.

Organisers of the celebration of beer, food, music and community have announced a new Friday session, following a sell-out of early bird tickets for the Saturday event. Oktoberfest Beverley is now taking place on Friday and Saturday, October 18 and 19, at Beverley Racecourse.

People can attend on the Friday, from 6pm to 11pm and on the Saturday, from noon to 5pm for the afternoon session and from 6pm to 11pm for the evening session. Oktoberfest is said to offer an incredible selection of traditional German Bier that can be served in up to two-pint stein.

Snow Patrol heading to Hull - February 19 2025

Snow Patrol will be playing at Hull's Connexin Live next year as part of their eagerly anticipated UK & Ireland Arena tour.

The Northern Irish trio, whose biggest hits include 'Run' and 'Chasing Cars', will be performing in Hull on Wednesday, February 19 - the only tour date in the whole of Yorkshire - among the UK's biggest arenas, most notably The O2 in London.

The tour will follow the September release of the band's new album, 'The Forest Is The Path', the first in six years after 2018's 'Wildness'. Find out more here.

Jane McDonald at Connexin Live - November 15

Singer, songwriter, performer and TV presenter Jane McDonald is heading to Hull as part of her new tour, With All My Love.

Jane is remaining tight-lipped about detailed preparations for the tour, other than hinting there are treats in store for fans, including new disco medleys – ‘I already know that’s going to tear the roof off’, emotional tributes and a show that is ‘more personal than ever’.

Little Shop of Horrors at Hull Truck Theatre - Wednesday May 22 to Saturday June 8

It's the final week to see cult favourite monster musical Little Shop of Horrors. The wildly entertaining story, music, and lyrics were created by the dream team of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, famous for their work on the Disney features Aladdin, Beauty and The Beast, and The Little Mermaid.

Follow hapless shop assistant Seymour as he stumbles across a mysterious new plant that promises him fame and fortune, at a price. Hull Truck says: "Feed the need for musical hilarity with this devilishly delicious sci-fi smash hit musical that has devoured the hearts of audiences around the globe and now comes to Hull Truck Theatre in this brand-new production.
