There truly is no place like Hull.
I was born and raised in our wonderful city, which means I didn’t realise just how many dialect differences we have to the rest of the country. It was only when I went to university (many, many, years ago), it became apparent to me just how many quirks our Hull language really has.
The first time I told someone I was 'mafting' I remember the look on their face. I may as well have spoken in another language.

Hull has its own unique language that only Hullensians can understand, meaning an outsider coming in might struggle to know what on earth we are talking about most of the time. It truly is a city that needs its own dictionary!
