NS&I has provided an update following a customer's query about getting set up online. The customer, who had just registered for the online and phone service, asked the Premium Bonds provider: "Just received my letter with my NS&I number (I have just registered for the online and phone service), but I need to set up my password for the account. How do I go about doing this?"
Customers can register for the online and phone service via the NS&I website, and new customers are automatically registered when they open an account. The provider reassured the customer that another letter would be arriving soon, explaining: "You will also receive your temporary password in the post, this won't be far behind your NS&I number.
"Once you have received your temporary password, you will be able to log in online and create your own password." Another customer separately contacted NS&I with a query after they had recently purchased some Bonds. They queried: "I purchased some Premium Bonds this morning (still waiting for my account details to come through).
"My parents bought me some when I was a kid (in my name), is it possible to transfer them to my new account when it's set up?" In response, the savings provider advised: "You will need to write to us at NS&I, Sunderland SR43 2SB with a signed letter. Please include your name, date of birth, address, your current NS&I number you log in with, and details of the missing Bonds.
"If the name and/or address is different on the old Bonds, please include your previous details as well." Each £1 Premium Bond is entered into a monthly prize draw, with every Bond having an equal chance of winning.
The monthly draw includes two top prizes of £1 million each, alongside other substantial prizes such as £100,000 and £50,000. A number of customers opt to reinvest their winnings in additional Bonds, thereby boosting their odds of future wins.
