Hull City's match-winning hero from Friday night, Regan Slater, says it's imperative the Tigers don't waste a golden opportunity to back up their victory at Stoke City.
Tim Walter's men host bottom side and managerless Cardiff City at the MKM Stadium on Saturday, as the club celebrates their 120th anniversary, and will be looking to secure a first home win of the season, and indeed, since early April, lifting some of the pressure on the new head coach and his players.
Slater's arrival just before the hour at the bet365 Stadium coincided with a stark second half revival from City, with the former Sheffield United midfielder stepping off the bench to rattle in the second goal, his first for more than a year.
The 25-year-old was typically bullish about the game against the Bluebirds and says the confidence boost Friday's win at Stoke has given his teammates must be extended to Saturday, and then beyond, and shows there remains a big desire in the dressing room.
"I think it just shows the character that's in the group," Slater told Hull Live. "At times last season, we showed that we had character and obviously it's been a big change around, but there are still a few boys there who are big characters. We brought in big characters, people like Kasey, so to come back it just kind of shows what what we're about."
"I think a win just picks everyone up naturally. You're going in, the spirits will just naturally be higher and things like that. It's just important that we then go and build on it and we don't waste what we've done (at Stoke) because it would have been pointless doing it tonight if we're not going to follow it up, so I think that's probably like, the next bit of pressure that's on us"
Slater along with the players and staff revelled in the moment at Stoke with the travelling contingent who were naturally jubilant with an impressive recovery, and he says it was right to enjoy the moment with those who had journeyed to the Potteries.
"It just shows what it means to us a group. The lads, like I've said before, work really, really hard day in, day out. We don't turn up to games wanting to lose games, it's not the result that we're after at all. They've (results) obviously not been good of late, so it's nice to take three points, and it just shows what it means to everyone.
"I think it's important to go and celebrate with what was it, 700, that have made the time (to come and watch)? They've stuck with us and made the time and effort to travel on a Friday night when people have been working and things. Like at the end as well with the celebrations, we wanted to show our appreciation to them."
