When you think of a night out in Hull during the early noughties, you think of Heaven & Hell nightclub.
The venue, found at the junction of Anne Street and Osborne Street, was opened in 1990 as Studio Circus. Some may even remember the huge opening night performance from LaToya Jackson.
The site originally housed a Jewish Synagogue which opened in 1903 and was later expanded in 1932. The building itself was badly damaged during the Second World War and, after being re-built in 1955, continued as a religious building until the Eighties.

After becoming a venue it went undergone a number of changes and re-brands, going under the names Eclipse, Ritzy and The Fez Club before becoming Heaven and Hell.
Once it started in its final form, some might remember the adjoining bar called Central Park, which was later changed to Purgatory Bar - fitting for the biblical theme.
So many people have memories of dancing the night away with their friends during Heaven & Hell's iconic foam parties or waving around their glow sticks on the dance floor.
The nightclub eventually closed in 2006 and remained abandoned for nearly a decade. In 2018, signs began to appear around the building informing the public it was going to be demolished to make way for a hotel, bar and restaurant although there was little movement after that.
In December 2020, it was announced that a Yorkshire-based developer had bought the site at an online auction for £380,000 with plans to build a seven-storey hotel with 135 rooms.
The building was eventually demolished in May 2021.
