The trial of a man accused of murdering 22-year-old Claudia Kambanza, who was stabbed in Hull, has been delayed until next year.
The trial of Mateus Johannes, 28, of no fixed address, had originally been scheduled to be heard in December but it has been put back on several occasions because of developments in the case.
The trial at Hull Crown Court is not now expected to be heard until late March, with a time estimate of at least five days. The new time slot was given at a brief mention of the case.
Johannes was further remanded in custody. An application for an extension of the custody time limits for him is expected to be made in December after the adjournment of the original trial date
.
Johannes was arrested after reports that Claudia had suffered stab wounds in Hinderwell Street, off Princes Avenue. Police were called at about 3am.
She was taken to hospital for treatment but, despite the efforts of medical staff, she died shortly afterwards.
Johannes, formerly of Peterborough, was charged with murder and possessing a blade in public on January 26.
A report on the mental health of Johannes had been obtained for the defence for an earlier hearing and the prosecution was obtaining its own report.
For the latest hearing of the case, Johannes was represented by Clive Stockwell KC, who appeared in court via a video link. A previous trial date had originally been fixed for June 17 but this was not possible because of the way that the case progressed at the time.
