A look inside Hull’s revamped Crows Nest as it plans 24-hour charity fundraiser
The refurbished pub has reported ‘amazing’ community feedback
An east Hull estate pub that recently reopened after a makeover has reported “amazing” feedback from customers old and new.
The Crows Nest, in Douglas Road, Longhill, said the community had come together to mark the relaunch of their local. Matthew Gurney, operations director for Proper Pubs, the group to which Crows Nest belongs, said: “The team worked incredibly hard to ensure that the pub was ready to welcome back customers and it was fantastic to see the community coming together to celebrate this.”
The pub’s operator Kiely Sharkett said: “Opening night was fantastic, it was amazing to see all our customers, old and new, coming to see what the pub has to offer. The feedback we received from our community was amazing, and we can’t wait to see them again soon.”
Matthew added: “Kiely brings a wealth of experience to the pub which will ensure it continues to sit at the heart of Hull. On behalf of the Proper Pubs team, we would like to wish her every success for the future in making The Crows Nest a fantastic hub of the community.”
The pub will be behind a host of community-orientated events, supporting several good causes. Among the first will be a 24-hour bikeathon fundraiser, running over the weekend of Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1.
It will include a family fun day of raffles, auctions, live music, bouncy castles and more. East Hull U13s, part of East Hull Rugby League Club, their families and friends are taking part to support a member who has recently lost both parents.
The proceeds of the charity event will help towards the future of the young player and his sister. Club U13 coach Craig Taylor is attempting the full 24 hours of the bikeathon.
