A Hull sex shop has successfully renewed its trading licence for another year.
Pulse and Cocktails applied to renew the licence for its shop in Courtney Street, east Hull, in June, before it was due to expire in July. A Hull City Council licensing sub-committee met to decide on the application.
It was accepted and the sex shop will be heading into its twenty-first year of operation. It was opened in 2004.

Sex establishments are any premises, vehicle, vessel or stall that are used to sell large amounts of sex articles and/or designed to encourage and stimulate sexual activity. They have their own individual licence category and each place must renew it every 12 months.
No objections were made to Pulse and Cocktails' renewal, and with it being on an industrial estate, the council found there are no schools, places of worship, community centres or private residences in close proximity. National rules mean any materials and literature sold by shops cannot be visible through its windows.
Last year's stated conditions that will continue include that no-one aged under 18 is allowed inside at any time. The licence holder is required to make sure that their activities do not cause any noise nuisance or annoyance to neighbours and other businesses in the area. Rules for sex shops allow them to open from from 10am to 9pm Monday to Saturday, from 11am to 5pm on Sundays and bank holidays.
Sex shops are specifically banned from being open on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Pulse and Cocktails is a sex shop chain, with stores also in Scunthorpe and on the A63, at the former Little Chef near North Cave. In 2019, Hull Live took a look inside the latter store.
