Love it or hate it, Christmas is very much on the horizon.
Last month, the people of Hull had their say on Christmas items appearing in the shops already. While it certainly caused a debate, it seems as though the festive discussion is far from over.
It might only be one day of the year, but people across the country spend months planning, purchasing and getting ready for Santa to arrive on December 25th. For those that work in the retail industry, a lot more planning needs to go into the big day as many people will be working throughout the festive period.
However, Home Bargains has recently said it will once again close on Boxing Day to enable staff to 'enjoy the festivities with loved ones.' The sentiment appears to have gone down a real treat with Hull residents, with hundreds of people flocking to social media to express their thoughts.
Sue said: "That's great. Everyone deserves to have a couple of days off at Christmas."
Elaine said: "Good - they deserve time off. People shouldn't need to shop over Christmas, we managed just fine in the 80s and before. Just stock up. It wouldn't harm life if shops were closed over Christmas."
And one retail worker simply said: "Please let us enjoy our family."

However, another staff member disagreed. They said: "This is retail and it's the same story every year, we know the job spec when we apply. A lot of professions don't get any time off."
And another person said: "Everyone saying they need time off, but I bet half of you go to the Boxing Day sales."
