Jordan Lane is Hull FC’s Player of the Year for the 2024 season, with the Hull-born back rower a proud recipient of the David Topliss Memorial Trophy.
Voted for by the coaching team, the 27-year-old, who was revealed as Simon Grix's pick in an interview with Hull Live earlier this month, has missed just one game all season, playing 27 times in Super League and the Challenge Cup. In that time, he has played a staggering 1,999 minutes of league action and has averaged an even more impressive 77 minutes per game.
Captaining the side at various stages this year, Lane has played several positions, filling in at loose-forward, prop, centre, hooker, back row, and at one stage on the wing. He is also one of the top tacklers in Super League, finishing in 9th spot with 820 for the season. His efficiency is also right up there at 93%, with Lane having arguably his best season since bursting into the scene as a young forward back in 2018.
Lane was also recognised for his work off the field, winning the Johnny Whiteley MBE Community Player of the Year Award. The forward underwent plenty of club ambassador work this year, with his efforts best emphasised by Hull FC’s visit to Beverley Parklands Care Home as part of the 2024 Charity Jersey launch with Alzheimer’s Society.
Elsewhere, Herman Ese’ese was also a big winner after a solid first season at the club. The powerful prop won both of the Players and Supporters Player of the Year awards.
In what turned out to be a tight contest, Logan Moy just pipped Lewis Martin to become Hull FC’s Young Player of the Year. Moy has played 16 times for the first team this season after a fine breakthrough season. He won the Academy Player of the Year last season.
Meanwhile, the main under-18s award went to Will Kirby this term. The forward has had a stellar year as the academy finished in the top four for the third consecutive season. He also made his first team debut back in July. Callum Kemp, who made his Super League debut for Hull on Saturday, won the Academy Players’ Player of the Year award.
Rising young star Evie Sexton won the Women’s Player of the Year award. The young back-rower has scored an incredible 29 tries in 13 games this season, her first at senior level. The Disability Player of the Year award went to PDRL player Corey Davies.
Additionally, Hull FC’s Finance Manager Angie Molyneux was awarded the Clubman Award, having served the club for over a decade. Angie continually offers key pastoral support to staff members across the club.
The club’s Volunteer of the Year went to kit assistant Chris Bratton, who celebrated his 70th birthday earlier this year. Chris is the longest serving member of club staff, having joined the club in 1990.
