Hull Kingston Rovers have struck a balance this week between preparation and rest, because they do not have a game coming this weekend - as coach Willie Peters looks forward to seeing other sides battling it out in the play-offs this weekend.
Rovers have not been over-doing it and that is just what they need after a gruelling regular-season Super League campaign, which saw them finish second and have this weekend without a game, as they go straight to the semi-finals that take place the following weekend. Meanwhile, in this weekend's eliminators, fourth-placed Salford Red Devils play fifth-placed Leigh Leopards on Friday, then third-placed Warrington Wolves face sixth-placed St Helens on Saturday.
Speaking about this week, Peters said: "The players have a few days off, which is well earned and which they need, then solid training. There's work done this week, there's no doubt about that. You still need to get the work done to build for next week.
"We have balance with the time off. When they are in, they are here to work hard, which they do - and then, when they are off, they need to get away from it, go play golf or hang out with your family, all the things that are important to them away. We'll build up this week but we don't want to build up too much because two weeks is a long time."
After the outcomes of this weekend's eliminators, the semi-finals will be first-placed Wigan Warriors against the lowest ranked winner from the eliminators and second-placed Rovers against the highest ranked winner from the eliminators. So, if Warrington win their game, Rovers will host them in the semi-finals. If Warrington lose, Rovers will host Salford or Leigh.
Asked if he will watch and enjoy the games, Peters replied: "I'll watch every game. To be honest, I wouldn't mind trying to enjoy it! I always watch the games and then, when I've got to work, I cut it up the next day. I'll watch it to enjoy but naturally when you're watching games you've always got your coach's head on. Then the following day, whoever we are playing, the work will get done."
