The council's free compost giveaways are set to return this September for their second round of the year.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council's waste and recycling team will host eight events across the East Riding, commencing on Tuesday 3 September, where residents can collect two free bags of compost.
This compost is entirely recycled from the garden and food waste that people deposit in their brown bins. Approximately 60 tonnes of compost was distributed for free during the previous giveaway events held in May.

Councillor Paul West, the council's cabinet member for environment and transport, said: "Our giveaways were a big hit with residents in May and I'm sure these next dates will be as popular as ever. It's our way of thanking residents for their help in recycling as much of their waste as they can and what a great job they do."
All contents of the brown bin are recycled into compost by the Biowise plant in Willerby, which is where the giveaway compost originates from. Brown bins can accommodate grass cuttings, hedge trimmings, small branches, leaves, flowers and weeds, all cooked and uncooked food, peelings, plate scrapings, bones, bread, meat, eggshells and small quantities of soups, sauces and gravies.
