A former Primark employee has shared the 'only way' customers can secure a discount on certain items in stores. Georgia Pontin, who began working for at budget-friendly retailer part-time after college in July 2017, spent years with the company.
The ex-shop assistant has shared numerous tips and tricks for Primark enthusiasts on her TikTok account (@Pontasaurus). In one of her videos, she spoke about a method to get a markdown on Primark's already low prices, although it requires a bit of luck.
She said: "A lot of people ask how to get a discount at Primark - but it's not that easy because the clothes are so cheap already. And, when I worked there, staff only got 10% [discount] at a certain time in their own store.
"If you really want a discount at Primark, then there's really only one way to do it - and that's to look for faulty items. So, if a t-shirt has a little tear in it, or there's a stain on it, or there's a chip in a piece of homeware - that's the only way you're going to get a discount", reports the Mirror.
She added: "If you find one of those, then go up to a staff member and say 'oh, this item's faulty, can I get a discount?'. That's pretty much the only way you can get a discount at Primark."
She highlighted that there are certain in-store sales that shoppers should keep an eye on. "If you really want, ask a staff member to see what's going on sale in the next few weeks," she suggested.
In her series of videos, Georgia shares numerous tips about Primark, including why the store doesn't play music and the best times to avoid the crowds. She also revealed how customers can sometimes discover 'hidden' stock around the shop - and where these items are often tucked away.
Customers hoping to hide the best deals often 'go low' on the bottom shelves that aren't easily looked at or in sections with little footfall. Primark has over 190 stores across the UK. Shoppers can locate their closest by using the store locator tool available online.
