A grand country home set in over 100 acres has opened its doors as the county’s newest weddings and events venue.
Hotham Hall, at Hotham, near North Cave, was bought by Linda and David Kilburn CBE, founders of the MKM Building Supplies empire, four year ago. They have spent the past three years carrying out a restoration of the Georgian hall to begin a new chapter in the property’s rich history.
The multi-million-pound transformation of the estate has created an elegant venue for exclusive hire for bespoke weddings, corporate gatherings, parties and private dining. Today (Friday, August 23) Hotham Hall opened its doors for the first time after a heritage-focused regeneration restored it to its former grandeur.

Hotham Hall’s owner and director Linda Kilburn said: “The estate is a truly unique pocket of East Yorkshire and a venue like no other. Our journey began with the desire to share its charm and its history and to ensure a long-term future and lasting legacy, so it can be preserved and enjoyed for centuries to come.
“The restoration has been a true labour of love and we can’t wait to host guests from all over the world to share special celebrations and make memories here at Hotham Hall.” The splendid Georgian estate, extending to 117 acres, was built in 1720 by William Burton and became a symbol of luxury and splendour for many years.
Three-hundred years later, in 2020, it was purchased by Hull businesswoman Linda and her husband, David, who set about bringing the home and gardens back to life together with marketing and events director, Rachel Waugh. Hotham Hall is now available for exclusive hire for sophisticated weddings and corporate gatherings to parties, private dining and charity events.
The estate offers a variety of elegant spaces amidst meticulously curated grounds and the picturesque East Yorkshire countryside. The venue boasts a beautiful Georgian hall, vast grounds for marquees and outdoor dining, and five luxury suites.
Hotham Hall’s first wedding will take place in September and the venue is now taking bookings for 2025 and beyond. The next chapter of the development includes the creation of a luxury spa, private members’ club, additional events space and further accommodation, set for completion in 2025/26.
Hotham Hall’s website is now live at hothamhallestate.com and viewings can be booked with Rachel Waugh.
