A film based in Hull, which originated as a Kickstarter project during the Covid pandemic, has now become available on the popular platform Amazon Prime Video.
Low Rollers began as a Kickstarter campaign in September 2020 and remarkably surpassed its goal of £10,000 in less than two months. Now, the film has reached a global audience through its inclusion on Amazon Prime Video.
Created by Jack Grewar, an award-winning filmmaker born in Hull, Low Rollers served as a personal response to the challenges posed by the pandemic lockdowns. Jack believed that in such unprecedented times, the world needed some comic relief.

By March 2020, drafts of the film were being circulated, and by June, the cast and crew were all on board. With a talented ensemble of actors and crew members based locally, Jack required additional funds to finance his second feature-length film. Thus, a Kickstarter campaign was launched in September.
Thanks to the support of 131 backers, who pledged a total of £10,328, the film was able to take flight. Filming took place across various locations in Hull during a 16-day shoot in March of the following year. Those who contributed to the funding received exclusive access to the finished film before its official release or were invited to the premiere if they pledged a higher amount.
Low Rollers is a comedy crime film that revolves around corrupt police officers who find themselves entangled after the release of the infamous criminal Marvin Shaw. The film showcases numerous different locations in Hull, with the trailer prominently featuring local pubs and the K2 building.
Having achieved five awards from various ceremonies, including Best Director for Jack at the Indie Spark Movie Film Festival and Best Indie Feature at the Europe Film Festival, Low Rollers has proven to be a success
Jack is one of the growing list of filmmakers using their Hull surroundings as a backdrop to their project, such as Sean McAllister's A Northern Soul film surrounding the 2017 City Of Culture. In addition to local filmmakers, Hull is making itself known as a prime location for the filming of late. Hullywood fever includes names such as Blitz, Enola Holmes II and The Crown just to name a few.
