People living on a Beverley estate should remain vigilant on antisocial behaviour as the weather improves, the town's MP has said.
Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart said people should report any incidents of antisocial behaviour in Swinemoor to maintain a deterrent against it. Inspector Matt Wilson, of Humberside Police's Beverley and Haltemprice Neighbourhood Policing Team, said the community needed to work with them to stop antisocial behaviour taking root there again.
It comes after Mr Stuart warned a year ago that antisocial behaviour had skyrocketed in Swinemoor and had become a scourge, particularly on St Nicholas Green. Following the spike in May, figures from the MP showed antisocial behaviour incidents in Swinemoor were reduced by 43 per cent from the summer of 2022 to 2023.

Mr Stuart said it was thanks to a concerted effort to work with the police and people living in Swinemoor including by reporting incidents. He added it was possible for antisocial behaviour to be further driven down with more community action.
The MP said: "People on Swinemoor want to live in a safe neighbourhood, and that’s why I’m calling for vigilance from the fabulous community there. To bring down anti-social behaviour, there needs to be a genuine threat that those responsible will be caught and punished."
Insp Wilson said that while antisocial behaviour reports were currently lower compared to previous years, people should let the police know if incidents pick up again. The officer said: "We don't want to see anti-social behaviour taking root on Swinemoor again and that means the police working with the community.
"Whilst anti-social behaviour reports are low in comparison to previous years, we encourage the public to report if this picks up again. The public are our eyes and ears when we aren’t around so if we don’t know about it, we can’t do anything."
People can report antisocial behaviour to Humberside Police online or by calling 101 or 999 in emergencies. Antisocial behaviour can also be reported to East Riding Council here.
