Denting your car is a stressful experience, whether due to misjudged parking, bumping the kerb or hitting another driver. And if this wasn't bad enough it is often a costly mistake, with Checkatrade stating the average quote for a dent repair in the UK comes to £355.
Now motorists could avoid these eye-watering bills with a handy new product - that costs less than a tenner. Aldi is set to sell its own dent repair kit for just £9.99 as part of its next instalment of middle aisle goods.
The pack includes nine accessories needed to help make your car look as “good as new” after a knock. According to the manufacturer the kit works to remove “minor” dents from the body work of cars, vans and motorcycles.
It will work on flat panels such as doors and roof as well as curved panels like the wing or valance part of the vehicle. The kit comprises a glue gun, release agent, dowel, scraper, glue gun stand, glue sticks, pull tab, cross bar and wing nut.
How to use
The manufacturer explains that to remove the dent, you will need to assemble the crossbar with the wing nut in place. Then, use the glue gun to apply the glue on top of the area of the dent.
Place the cross bar over the area, and then fasten the wing nut into the area where the glue was applied on top of the dent. Once the glue has dried out, unfasten the wing nut which should start levelling out the dent.
Use the releasing agent and scrapper to gently remove the wing nut and peel off the glue. Aldi says: “Simple to use and with easy-to-follow instructions, this handy kit will straighten out bodywork in seconds and can be used to repair minor dents and bumps on both flat and curved panels. The kit includes nine accessories providing shoppers with everything they need to make their car look as good as new.”
The dent repair kit will arrive in stores on August 4 but as with all middle aisle items, “once they’re gone, they’re gone”.
